"All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts." * We need to remember that God is the Playwright--our life on this earth, as well as the next, is His Story, not our own. We arrive here as the play is already progressing, and can only really know what is going on by getting in touch with the Author. Our part is already written. He is also the Director and Producer, and we are given the privilege of developing the character in cooperation with Him. He will give us the gifts and tools we need to make the most of our part if we are willing to surrender to His Direction.
On the other hand, have you ever seen a production where some of the characters don't know their parts, aren't in the places they need to be, and generally make it difficult for those who are on task? What are the Director's choices? Remove the disruptive ones, tweak the script to work around them, or persuade them to get on track?
And at the end of our part, if we do know the Author/Director/Producer, and have made the decision to be a functioning part of the Production, there is an invitation to the Eternal Cast Party. If we've never bothered to make the connection...
